Your Big Three: Every sign in your Big Three offers different information about yourself and your overall identity. Together, they provide insight into your ego, motivations, emotions, and more. For the astrologically curious — or even those looking for a good reason why you might be more emotional than others (ahem, Cancers) — finding out what your Big 3 has to say finally solves all those burning questions about why you procrastinate or why you love to organize.

Below is how you can learn about your Big 3 and use the information to enhance your life.

sun, moon and rising signs

How to Calculate Your Sun Sign

Astrologically, your sun sign symbolizes your pride, ego, and drive. It explains one's basic nature and provides an overall view of one's self. This is the sign you check when reading your horoscope. You may already know your sun sign, but if not, you can easily find it using your birth date:

 Aries (March 21 - April 19)

 Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

 Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

 Cancer (June 21 -  July 22)

 Leo (July 23 - August 22)

 Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

 Libra (September 23 - October 22)

 Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

 Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

 Capricorn (December 22- January 19)

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

For example, if your birthday is on September 27th, you are a Libra Sun and would identify as such.

If your Sun is in Gemini, you probably want to be recognized for having a glib tongue and brain. An open poetry reading would appeal to you as would work presentations or participating in discussion groups. What appeals to the Air of Work characteristics applies here. Exercise these traits to make those energies work for you.

If you are a Pisces Sun, then you are the one dreamy and sensitive. Find yourself recharging within a setting such as a botanical garden or beach.

 Finding Out Your Moon Sign

Your moon sign is how your emotional and unconscious self feels. It's often described as your needs or your instincts or what makes you feel secure. You would have to know the time of day in which you were born to discover your moon sign. If you don't know it, try to retrieve it from your birth certificate or ask one of your parents. The more exact you can be with your birth time, the better, but approximate times can work too. For your moon sign, find the degree it is in and plug it into a natal chart calculator, as demonstrated here on Cafe Astrology's page on Calculate.

Example: If you have a Taurus Moon, emotional security might be one of your priorities, so it's likely you would feel better by being in some kind of comfortable retreat or calming hotel.

Leo Moons are warmhearted and tender. They will do best in environments that treat self-care with an overall well-being approach in mind. Look for environments such as that.

Scorpio moons are quite loyal; they keep returning to the same restaurants and stores. However, they want the favor returned when such is needed and maybe an unexpected coffee delivery from a high-quality source at their front door.

 Your Ascendant sign

The rising sign, also sometimes referred to as the "ascendant," is what the world sees when it looks at you. It is determined by where you were born. You can easily find your rising using the calculator on Cafe Astrology or with the CoStar Astrology app. For example, Virgo risings are calm and into facts; they mostly tend to get passionate when the topic veers to environmental. Sagittarius risings exude a sense of self-assurance and optimism. They excel in a social environment and find it the best advantage at college for extending their friends' circle. Pisces Rising: Imaginative, a Pisces rising requires inspiration, similar to the Cancer rising, with ways of inspiring their imagination, such as a visit to a scenic beach. With knowledge of your Big 3 signs, you also uncover the details of your personality and needs to further assist you in negotiating your environment.

Understanding your sun, moon, and rising signs can provide valuable insights into your personality, emotions, and the way you present yourself to the world. By identifying your Big 3, you can gain a deeper understanding of your motivations and needs, helping you to navigate life with greater self-awareness and confidence. Whether you're a curious novice or a seasoned astrology enthusiast, exploring these aspects of your cosmic identity can enhance your self-discovery journey and improve your interactions with the world around you. So, take the time to discover your Big 3 and use this knowledge to enhance various aspects of your life, from personal relationships to professional endeavors.

What if I have all Pisces ascendant, Sun, and Moon? Saturn is also in my first house in Pisces, close to my rising sign.
